A proper home for a proud club
West Adelaide Soccer Club has been part of Adelaide football for decades. Their website didn’t reflect any of it. I rebuilt it from scratch — a complete digital home for seniors, juniors, history, sponsors, and live fixtures.

Overview
Good sports club website design starts with getting the story right. West Adelaide SC — Hellas — is one of South Australia’s most established soccer clubs, with roots going back to 1936 and a history of producing Socceroo and Matilda representatives. What they had online didn’t come close to telling that story.
The old site was a default WordPress theme with images and text stacked on top of each other. No design, no hierarchy, no personality. Clicking “Fixtures & Results” took you off the site entirely to the Dribl website. The squad pages were mostly grey placeholder silhouettes. It looked like nobody cared — which wasn’t true at all.
I rebuilt it end to end: a full club website that actually reflects what West Adelaide is.
Below, the before and after — same club, different web presence.

The same club, rebuilt
What sports club website design in Adelaide should deliver
The same club’s website, roughly twelve months apart — hit Before / After on any pair to flip, and scroll inside each to see the whole page.

The challenge
- A club with 90 years of history and no website that showed it
- Squad pages full of grey placeholder silhouettes — no photos, no player info
- Fixtures and results sending visitors off-site to a third-party platform
- Content spread across pages with no consistent design or structure
- The club needed to be able to manage it themselves after handover — without calling me for every update
What I did
- Rebuilt the entire site in WordPress using Divi — chosen specifically so the club could manage their own content without needing a developer for every change
- Designed a consistent visual system across every page: hero sections, typography, colour, card layouts
- Built custom player card pages for senior men’s, senior women’s, juniors, and the Raptors affiliate — name, number, position, photo
- Embedded the Dribl live fixtures and results widget directly into the site — so visitors never had to leave to find a game time
- Created a full sponsorship section with tiered packages and pricing, plus a contact form for sponsor enquiries
- Built program pages for Juniors and MiniRoos with FAQs, registration links, and structured content
- Designed a custom History timeline page celebrating the club’s heritage from 1936 to today
- Set up a news and events system the club could update themselves

The result
A website the club is proud of
West Adelaide SC went from a default WordPress theme with placeholder silhouettes and off-site fixture links to a full club website — player cards, live results, sponsorship packages, program pages, a history timeline, and a design that actually reflects a club with 90 years behind it. That’s what good sports club website design should do — a site that carries their story, not just their fixtures.
I built it on Divi so the club could take ownership of it without needing a developer on call. A good website shouldn’t make you dependent on the person who built it.
“Our old site didn’t do justice to a club with ninety years of history behind it. Felipo rebuilt it into something we’re genuinely proud of — real player profiles, live fixtures, and our whole story from 1936, all in one place. Just as importantly, he set it up so we can keep it updated ourselves, which for a club like ours makes all the difference.”
