Ecommerce website design in Adelaide
An online store has one job: turn visitors into orders. Most small-business stores I see don’t. The checkout puts people off, the product pages don’t answer the questions buyers have, or the whole thing is slow on a phone.
I build online stores that are simple to buy from and simple for you to run. Below is what that involves, how the pricing works, and a real store I rebuilt from the ground up.
What ecommerce website design includes
Every store is different, but a proper build usually covers:
- A store built on WooCommerce and WordPress. It’s one of the most widely used setups for small online stores, you own it outright, and you can add products and change prices yourself.
- Product pages that sell. Clear photos, the details people need to decide, and options (sizes, colours, configurations) that are easy to choose.
- A checkout people trust. Short, clear, and with the payment options your customers expect: card payments, PayPal, and buy-now-pay-later options such as Zip.
- Shipping and GST set up properly, so what the customer sees at checkout is what they pay.
- Built for phones first. Lots of shoppers browse on a phone, and a store that’s fiddly on a small screen loses the sale.
- The basics for Google done from day one, so your products can actually be found.
- Custom tools where they earn their keep, like a quote calculator for made-to-measure products.
Who it’s for
Small businesses that sell something online, or want to: trade suppliers, made-to-measure products, spare parts, and local retailers who want a proper online store rather than a marketplace listing.
If you only need a handful of products and a simple checkout, you may not need a full build, and I’ll tell you.
How pricing works
Online stores vary too much for one fixed price. Ten products with standard shipping is a very different job to a store with hundreds of configurable products and a custom quote tool.
So ecommerce builds are quoted per project as custom work at $120 an hour. Before any work starts, you get an estimate of the hours and a firm cap, and I won’t go past the cap without asking you first. No surprise invoices.
How it works
- We have a chat. No charge. You tell me what you sell, how you sell it now, and what’s not working.
- I scope it and send an estimate. Hours, a firm cap, and what’s included, in writing.
- I build it. You see progress along the way, not just at the end.
- We test it properly. Real test orders, payments and emails, on phones as well as desktop.
- You launch, and I show you how to run it. Adding products, changing prices, handling orders.

A real ecommerce rebuild: Shutters4u
When I took over the digital side of Shutters4u, the online store was selling almost nothing: a handful of $20–30 spare parts, a quote tool that didn’t work, and a checkout that put people off. Two rounds of overseas developers had been through it and left it broken. Flip any page below between the old site and the new one.

The result
Six figures per quarter
The store went from selling next to nothing to turning over six figures every quarter. That’s what proper ecommerce website design can actually deliver when it’s built properly, not patched.
Months later, a theme update silently broke the checkout. I caught it, diagnosed it, and had it fixed within the week — before it cost a single sale. That’s the difference between a faceless agency and a local offsider who’s actually watching.
“Felipo turned our site from a glorified parts list into a proper online store. The instant-quote tool changed everything — customers price up their own shutters and the orders just come through. Best money we’ve spent on the business.”

Common questions
Do you build online stores for tradies, or just retail?
Both. Selling products, parts or made-to-measure jobs online is the same kind of build. The store gets set up around how you actually sell, whether that’s full orders or just deposits.
What platform do you build online stores on?
WooCommerce, on WordPress. It’s widely used, you own it outright rather than renting it, and you can manage products, prices and orders yourself.
How long does an ecommerce build take?
It depends on how many products you have and what the store needs to do. You’ll get a timeline with the estimate, before any work starts.
Can I add products and change prices myself?
Yes. I’ll show you how to add and edit products, change prices and handle orders, so you’re not waiting on me for day-to-day changes.
How much does an online store cost?
It’s quoted per project at $120 an hour, with an estimate of the hours and a firm cap agreed before I start. The biggest factors are how many products you have, how complex the options are, and whether you need custom tools like a quote calculator.
